Performer/Choreographer/Teacher

Ho Lok Yee Cola, born in Hong Kong, graduated from the Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance. She started off her dance training with Ballet, HipHop and Latin Ballroom before she devoted herself in the contemporary dance field.

 

Later on Cola joined the Performact Program in Portugal on a scholarship, where she has trained with various artists like Mate Meszaros, Inãki Azpillaga , Jose Agudo and Cruz Isael Mata. Where she started teaching during her second year in the program. During her time in Portugal, she has worked with Quorum Ballet for <Rite of Spring – Made in China> and <Saudade> which toured in Portugal, Denmark and Spain.

 

In 2019, She worked with Luke Jessop in the piece <The Red Queen > in the Half Oogst Festival in Belgium . Cola has also worked with Companhia Instável for <Timber> ,choreographed by Roberto Olivan, that premiered in Braga, Portugal.

Her first choreographed work was presented back in 2017 <Mrs Murphy> in Hong Kong and 2018 in Korea. She has premiered her first solo work <Emma’s Jaw> in the Summer Intensive in Torres Vedras,Portugal in 2019.

 

 Cola joined Theater Bielefeld from the season 2020-2023, where she worked with various choreographers. Currently, she is a freelanced dance artist, working with Ultima Vez, one of the most important dance company in Europe.

She believes in movements there comes a freedom of physicality and through challenges the limits of physicality comes sincerity of different states through performances and as pratice.
